The single serve coffee capsule is a growing market. Soarnol™ EVOH is used as a layer within the capsules to maintain the coffee aroma and prevent the ground coffee from oxidation. Co-injection molding technology is one of the methods to produce single-serve coffee capsules.
Co-injection molding’s advantages include low scrap rates and high production efficiency; however, resins with good thermal stability and high flowability are required. The thermal stability and high flowability properties of Soarnol™ EVOH make it a perfect match for the co-injection molding technology to manufacture coffee capsules and other barrier containers.
